XLD for Historic Dutch Theatre
E-Audio Benelux recently delivered a custom-colored Electro-Voice XLD super-compact line array loudspeaker system to one of Holland's oldest concert halls, the Philharmonie in Haarlem, built in 1872.
“This project posed a number of challenges for which the XLD proved a perfect solution,” says Axel Nagtegaal, MD, E-Audio Benelux. “Firstly, the architect requested an audio system that did not disturb the visual aspects of the space; secondly, the director requested a system that kept sightlines open, with no equipment on stage; and thirdly, the technical crew requested a system capable of handling a diverse range of acts. The room’s shape also posed acoustical challenges. After careful measurements and tests, we arrived at the best workable solution in the form of a custom-colored XLD system, operating in stereo mode and flown—with subs—from a single central position (arrays of eight XLD281 full range line array enclosures are flown either side of three XS212 subwoofers). Special stage infills were used to complete this magnificent sounding system.”
