Sutherlin Audio take delivery on a new XLC™ Compact Line Array from EV®

Anaheim, CA (November 23rd, 2004): Anaheim-based AV sales and rental company Systems 2000 are pleased to announce the sale of an XLC compact line array loudspeaker system from EV (Electro-Voice) to Sutherlin Audio of Colton, CA.

Systems 2000 owner Rich Kluth reported: “Sutherlin Audio recently acquired a 48-channel Midas® Legend 3000™ console from us, and I recommended the XLC to compliment the console and their inventory of Klark Teknik® EQs. When it comes to total systems, it’s hard to be the brands under the Telex Pro Audio Group umbrella. Midas at front of house, KT in the rack and EV on stage – it doesn’t get much better than that!”

Kluth continued: “We’re happy to have another satisfied XLC customer. We believe that the demo makes the sale, and that’s why the XLC prevailed again, here in a part of the country proliferated by PAs from a certain Southern California-based manufacturer! We simply invited Sutherlin Audio to listen to all the rigs that were an option for their application requirements and budget. Not all manufacturers’ reps encourage that – most are ‘you can buy it, but you can’t try it’. But (EV reps) Quantum Services and Technology really stood behind the demo, and that said volumes about the integrity of both the product and the manufacturer.”

Kluth added: “We also considered the issue of expansion compatibility – if you need an extra four boxes, you need to know they’re at a dealer nearby. Again, in this part of the state it’s easy to opt for one of EV’s main competitors with that assurance intact. However, in this game, sound quality counts more than convenience – reputations rest upon it – and word has spread about the XLC to the point that there are plenty of rigs down here around ‘Orange’ County! People are beginning to realize the new paradigm in audio is not just about really loud sound; it’s about really good sound. A line array like the XLC offers the best of both worlds.”

Sutherlin Audio owner Russell Sutherlin commented: “We demo’d the 127+ boxes on a couple of shows and immediately appreciated the time saving aspect. We do a lot of work at UC Irvine’s Bren Event Center – a large basketball arena with all the usual acoustical challenges. We found the XLC offered clarity and coverage, with no compromises despite the quick setup, and had no need for the extra rigging manpower needed for delay speakers. We got top quality sound in a quarter of the time with a tenth of the labor, and with no worries about hitting the back wall with headroom to spare. The long-throw on these boxes is phenomenal. We’re now hitting all the pockets where delays would be used, and with all the full-bandwidth articulation associated with line arrays. The difference with the 127+ is that it is so compact. It has the SPL handling capacity of a bigger line array box - and there are plenty of those out there – but all from an enclosure that is considerably more compact in size and weight. The XLC looks as good as it sounds, and that’s what clients want these days.”
