ADAC Gala in Berlin with Equipment from EV
The gala ball of the ADAC Group Berlin-Brandenburg was held in Berlin’s Hotel Maritim on January 26th, with 4,000 guests and a host of celebrities in attendance. Pro audio company TSE AG deployed equipment from EV for the prestigious event. In 2008, for the third year running, the ADAC Group Berlin-Brandenburg held its gala ball in the luxurious Maritim Hotel, Berlin. Whilst the 4,000 guests could also dance in the foyer and corridors, the organizers laid on a lavish programme of entertainment in the hotel’s exquisitely decorated halls, featuring stars such as Echo award-winner Roger Cicero and TV presenter Ulla Kock am Brink. The diverse mixture of dance performances and concerts offered something for everyone, keeping guests entertained and dancing into the wee small hours.

TSE AG was responsible for the technical side of the event, deploying equipment from Electro-Voice to ensure excellent audio quality. For TSE’s managing director Marcel Fery, the choice was based primarily upon the high intelligibility and extreme reliability of EV systems. The team lead by Project Manager Adrian Carlin installed eight EV XLD line array elements to the right and left of the stage in the main hall of the hotel, with four more in the centre of the stage. The whole ensemble was driven by EV TG-7 power amplifiers.
Fery was highly satisfied with the results: “As always, the EV boxes delivered absolutely clear sound and performed immaculately. The programming of the system was particularly successful. Thanks to
IRIS-Net control software and the resulting remote control capability, possibilities hitherto undreamed of in terms of supervision and monitoring are opening up. This, without question, is where the future of the audio market lies.” For event host Wolf Wegener, the event was notable for two reasons: firstly, this was his last ball after 30 years at the helm as head of the ADAC Group Berlin-Brandenburg; secondly, because the event was such a resounding success. “The sound was truly unique!” Wegener says, “and the harmonious interplay of sound equipment, lighting and ambience could not have been bettered. It was unique in my experience.”
